Overall what have I learnt:
- How to use Photoshop. Although I already knew how to use photoshop from school I have learnt much more about using the different tools such as magnetic lasso, spot healing, how to change the brightness/contrast and the colour balance. On my college magazine you will be able to tell that I didn't really know how to edit photos, the lighting in the room gave the photo a yellowy colour to it and I didn't know how to correct that.
- I have learnt that the colour scheme of the magazine plays a big part in distinguishing genre and meeting the target audience, for example if you have a red, white and black magazine the genre is most likely to be rock or indie and if you have a really colourful magazine it's probably a pop magazine.
- I have also learnt that the clothing of the model need to fit the genre as well, my genre is indie so I want the model to be wearing this style of clothing to attract the right audience and readers.
- I have learnt about serif and sans serif fonts, before I never knew that serif fonts are used for articles because they are easier to read especially when skimming through and sans serif fonts can be used more for the front cover where the fonts will be bolder.
